Dead People and Drugs

Great savings on karaoke at bargain prices
Fast debt settlement USA.

And . . . three more episodes of "6 Feet Under" later, I'm am totally consumed by the thoughts of dead people. And not just dead people -- but interacting with the dead people like they were still alive. The last episode we watched was the one where the 6 year old shot himself with his dad's gun (a very, very sad episode). Well, the mom ended up taking X -- which was cracked out. Then she totally got funky with her imagined dead husband.

How weird.

Anyway -- I really like this show. It's amazing to me how screwed up everyone is. It's like extreme life. But we can all relate (except for the whole dead people thing).

Wow. I'm really tired. Yah.

Designing with Tables: Using CSS

Just thought I would mention this book . . . has anyone read it?

HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables Using CSS It's one of the books by SitePoint -- and I really found their book on Database driven websites using PHP and MySQL very helpful.

Just thought I'd pass that along for all you designers out there in la-la land..

When Angels Play Their Drum Machines

I got to bed late last nite. Very late. 5:30am actually. Ryan and I have been watching episodes of "Six Feet Under" We watched three last nite, and I'm seriously fascinated with this series. What a practical way of evaluating your life -- through the really screwed up lives of others and their involvement with the dead.

So I'm sitting here writing this with immense banging coming from the roof overhead. At first, I thought maybe this was like early Christmas and Santa and his gang were throwing a circuit party on our complex rooftop.

Alas, no. My complex has decided to reroof. I'm on the 3rd floor of a 3-story complex (with my balcony at the pool even). The pounding is seriously right over my head. I swear that the people hammering (why the hell are they hammering? It's called NAIL GUN.) are hammering extra just to piss me off.

The complex management sent a letter to the residents asking us to "remove all items from the wall as they may fall due to vibrations caused by the roofers."

That should give you an idea of what I'm living in right now. I think I'm going to have to leave.

BTW -- my connection is fixed again (yay!). Turned out to be a bad filter at ground level.

What Would Happen?

If Eminem were to hit by a bus carrying a up-and-coming ragtime band?

Hmmm -- maybe this?

*UPDATED*
I was not stealing bandwidth. It was a temporary fix because I could not get a strong enough internet connection to upload the mp3 to my server. Thank you. It should work now.

You would not believe all the shit on this site. Amazing. Simply amazing.

Having Issues --

Hey folks -- just wanted to mention that I'm having some problems with my ISP. Sometimes I have service -- sometimes I don't. It's supposed to be fixed on Thursday (bloody communist bastards who have NO clue that I have school work to do for an ONLINE University with papers due on Tuesday AND Wednesday.) Assholes.

Happy belated birthday, David! I love you, doll!

*yawn* Time for bed.

A Dream Is a Wish . . .

Ok, so I recently purchased Season 7 of the X-Files. I'm an X-Files fan, it's true. I have all the previous seasons, and I will continue to purchase the upcoming seasons until either a.) Christ comes again, or b.) I have them all.

Yes, I know, the last two seasons (with Dogget and Ryes) are dumb. I agree wholeheartedly. BUT, if I made the investment of the THAT many DVDS, I might as well get the rest.

ANYWAY -- we watched the episode about the Genie (the title is something in French). About how people never make specific enough wishes. (Like the guy wishes to be invisible and then gets hit by an 18-wheeler and keeled.)

It was a good episode -- funny commentaries.

So -- if you had 3 wishes . . . what would you wish for?

Scarecrow . . . In The Wyoming Winter Dark

Ok, So i did some research on that song because it's been stuck in my head for the past couple of days.

Turns out . . . it's about Matthew Sheppherd. I was actually thinking about that in the shower a few days ago. I was listening to (as I always listen to music while I'm in the shower) and it finially hit me that he said Scarecrow in the WYOMING Winter dark -- not in the WideWinter Dark. Duh.

Crazy shit, no?

Third Time's The Charm

And just to help ease your Rufus-yearning . . .here is a little song he sang as a duet with somebody I don't know. The song is called Scarecrow. It's very nice. And he is soooo smooth.

Rufus Wainwright is WANTED!

So after doing my not-so-deep searching, I have discovered that Rufus, dear Rufus, is due out for another album sometime soon. In fact -- he is currently mastering said album. And here's a really sneaky leak . . .

The album is called "Wanted" . . . .

And oh wait -- there's more . . . . . it's going to be a DOUBLE cd set! Enough Rufus to get you through a cold war, national drought, and even a month-long deluge of bad anti-gay politics by redneck law makers.

"I LOVE MY DEAD GAY SON!"

Sickness Confirmed.

I am SICK. Bastards. I am not one who deals well with sickness. This morning, I woke up with my throat being extremely swollen. I seriously thought I was going to need to go to the hospital. (Luckily I'm not prone to panic attacks.)

So I sit in the hot shower for about 20 minutes coughing up several small countries and at least one medium-sized middle-eastern territory. No sign of infection, however -- which is good. Tells me two things: 1.) I'll live. and 2.) Osama and Saddam were not hiding in my pleural cavity (although I was beginning to grow suspicious.).

So here I am -- sitting in front of several different medications -- perplexed by which I should take. There's the Nyquil™ and the Tylenol™ PM -- and then some perscription antihistamine (not Claratin™) that my mother gave me -- and then some other weird sample that her doctor gave her for sinus crap. Oh and then I have the Sudafed Severe Cold and Flu. Hmmm. Maybe I should take them all and chase them a smooth glass of white wine.

In the meantime, I took my first proficiency exam in school. If I pass them, then I don't have to take an crash courses in Math or English. People, I am BAD at math. I mean bad as in if I can't get the answer with a calculator, I will pay someone to do it for me. I had some "help" today with my "studying" and I aced the test! Yay for me. :)

I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)

Ugh - I'm getting sick AGAIN. Ryan brings this shit home from work and I get it. You'd think I worked at a day care! Good lord! I woke up this morning and you'd swear I was Bea Arthur! My voice was sooooooooooooo low. And my throat is all scratchy -- might explain why I've not been sleeping so well as of late.

Last nite, a friend called me in tears. She had bad news. She found out her boyfriend was HIV+. They hadn't had sex or anything like that, so she wasn't worried. But she was quite emotionally attached to him, and the news was so upsetting. So I spent the evening with her trying to cheer her up and get her mind of things. She wanted to go eat at Wendy's (lol), so off we went.

That was such an odd experience. There was this woman there with a little girl in the kitchen. The woman had the biggest nipples I think I've ever seen. You could see them through her shirt and I was like "damn, girl! Wear a bra!"

I was rudly awakened this morning by a pool party outside my apartment. Today is a crawfish boil for the complex -- and they have a DJ. Who is playing music from 4 years ago. He played that damn "Hey now, you're a rock star, put your game, go play" song (that is what woke me up.) Now I'm pissy. (Not to mention there are some GROSS people down there. Why do gross men insist on taking off their shirt in public? YUK.)

BTW -- thanks for the suggestions for the cat's name. We actually decided on "Yuna" -- which is named after a Final Fantasy X character.

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Ok, I think I'm back now. :) Most of the major events have come and gone. Ryan's 21st birthday was yesterday and I've finished his blog (for the most part). We haven't done the About section, but I have finished the other pages.

You can see my handywork at www.iknowsomething.com. I have to teach how to use MoveableType -- but that shouldn't be too hard.

There will be some modifications to it as well as time goes on.

There was a lunar eclipse tonite (still going on, actually). No wonder everyone and their white-trash dog is acting PSYCHO tonite! I mean there were a lot more attractive people at Wal-Mart tonite than normal. Shit, you'd think this were Tyler, Texas by taking a survey of ugliness at Wal-Mart.

I saw The Matrix Reloaded last nite. Decent movie. Not great. Cool action scenes -- but the story was too compacted and left me wondering a lot. And can I just say that Kanunu Reeves has the SMOOTHEST skin for any white boy I've ever seen. Can we say airbrush? Or is just blessed?

Anyway -- OH -- I got a cat tonite! It's black and white -- and sweet as can be. I don't have a name for it as of yet. Ryan and I can't decide. Anyone have any suggestions? The cat has GREEN eyes. I mean, like Joelle green. It's stunning.

So -- gimme some cat names, people. (My last cat's name was Dammit. I miss her :( )

Busy Times!

Well, my apologizes for not writing much here lately. It's been unusually busy here. Saturday was Ryan's and my one year anniversary. And then yesterday was Mother's Day. Wednesday is Ryan's birthday as well. LOL. So I'm still up to my neck. Plus, I have two papers due in school by Wednesday. Ugh.

OH, and I've been working on Ryan's blog some more. It's not completely done yet. I still need to design the "About" page for him -- but I need info from him to do that.

I promise I'll write soon!

Starlight Express, Starlight Express . . .

Last nite, Ryan, I, and my good friend David went out to see the TUTS touring production of Starlight Express at the Hobby Center here in Houston.

First off -- I'll tell you. I think Starlight Express is a fun-filled show with some great numbers. With that being said, I don't know what the hell we saw last nite. It was like a . . . hmmm . . .high school production with a huge budget.

And I was SOOO disapponited because they used the OLD Starlight, not the updated version. So we watched a musical from 1984 that looked just like it was from 1984 (complete with the pony-tail on top of the head). They didn't include "Next Time You Fall In Love" which was even released as a SINGLE in England.

The strong points fom the show: Dinah, Electra, and Poppa all had spectacular voices. The lighting was good. Oh, and I only had to pay $12.50 for the ticket. Other than that -- it wasn't that good.

BUT, it was SO nice to get to spend time with David again. I miss him -- so it was nice to see him again.

Oh, Our Sordid Lives

So I haven't posted in a good while. And my site's not even complete yet -- slap my wrist. I just haven't been in the mood.

However -- I have the best movie for y'all to rent (or even purchase!) Especially if you're gay -- because it really just makes you laugh then. The movie is called "Sordid Lives" -- the box says it's a "Black Comedy About White Trash."

I tell you, I haven't laughed so hard in AGES! Firstly -- to hear Olivia Newton-John singing country . . . woah. And it has an incredibly thin Delta Burke -- oh, and that girl from To Wong Fu -- the bitchy alcoholic woman, ya know? Oh the great Tammy Wynette female impersonator. (I have no idea who the guy is -- but he was a RIOT!)

It was a white-trash-fun-fest. And I highly recommend it -- especially if you live in Texas.

Wow -- I see that y'all like this month's songs! Holy shit. You've downloaded enough to already have used 5gb of bandwidth transfer! So if I'm having 13-15 downloads of each song -- why aren't you leaving comments?

Come on people, slap me with your thoughts (or anything else that's just lying around).

Bread Pudding was D I V I N E !!

Just had to say before I go to bed --

The white chocolate bread pudding was absolutely fantastic. VERY rich and devistatingly delicious. Diet or not, I SOOO recommend that you make it. You don't know what you're missing.

Mind you, while this was good -- it is not the BEST I've had. I'll have to dig for my recipe. It just doesn't get better than the one I make. (Mmmm.)

Glad I have enough for breakfast (lunch and dinner) tomorrow.

Thanks, Todd!

Not Quite Finished

Ok, so I fixed the Archives. But I have finished the other sections yet. I'm wanting to do something a little more fun for the "About" seciton -- but I'm still thinking. Unfortunately, thinking is not exactly my forte at the moment.

I'm thinking about making a some white chocolate bread pudding. Recipe was was sent to me from Todd (who had a car wreck today -- I think -- maybe yesterday). Here's the recipe if anyeone else wants to make it.

White Chocolate Bread Pudding

Pudding Ingredients
3 cups whipping cream
10 ounces white chocolate
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
8 egg yolks
1 loaf French bread, sliced into 1/4 inch pieces and dried in the oven
2 tablespoons chocolate shavings for garnish

Heat the cream in a double boiler and add the white chocolate; when the chocolate is melted, remove from heat.
In a double boiler, heat the milk, sugar, eggs and egg yolks until warm. Blend the egg mixture into the cream and chocolate mixture.

Place the bread slices in a baking pan. Pour 1/2 of the mixture over the bread and let settle for a while, making sure the bread soaks up all the mixture. Top with the rest of the mixture. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Sauce Ingredients
8 ounces white chocolate
3 ounces heavy cream

Gently melt the white chocolate in a double boiler. Remove from heat and mix in heavy cream. Spoon over bread pudding.

Serves 8.

Hmmm -- Not Quite What I Expected.

Well, I have to admit. I'm a little disappointed in this design. I kind'a expected more. It looks so much better in Photoshop. Hmm - oh well.

So I worked on setting up skinning -- and it confused the shit out of me. Seriously. I think I might just pay Joelle to do it for me. :)

I also spent the day setting up IIS on my home pc. My boyfriend, Ryan, wants a blog and so I thought I'd save the money of getting a host and just host from here. SOOoo -- we bought a domain name -- http://iknowsomething.com -- and I installed IIS, MySQL, PHP, and Perl. Then I had to create a database and install MoveableType.

Yah. Three hours later . . .

I'm not an IT guy all that much. I know enough to do basic troubleshooting, but sometimes I have to do some trial and error. And it took me a while to figure out how to install PERL on a Win32 client. But I got it -- and the blog is installed.

Now I just have to design something for it . . . Hopefully it turns out better than this last one.

Updating Site

Hey, I'm sorry for the delay of decent entries. I'm working on skinning my site and it's taking a little more time than I thought.

In order to help me with the skinning process, I am going to update the design of my blog. Expect it later today (unless I get interupted). That way everything will be clean and more efficient. Things are going to be moved around. I am doing away with some of the sections -- and/or moving their content to another location.

So make sure you check back later.

X2

So I caught the midnight matinee last night of X2. So I saw it before most people down here. I was so damn impressed. I kept thinking -- "My gawd -- this is what movies are about." It was well written and the effects just amazing.

I want to be a mutant.

Being gay just isn't good enough any more. I need the whole "freak" aspect added to it. Shut up, David.

All I can say is that the boy who played Pyro in the movie reminds me a WHOLE lot of that yummy songer Rufus Wainwright.

Great flick, tho -- I know you'll love it.

Previews for the other movies looked good too -- with the exception of The Hulk (which I'm not at ALL looking forward too.) I just think it's a bit lame and I'm afraid that pushing the whole comic genre too hard. oh well. Plus, green's never really my color.
